Dr. Chandran Nadarajan

Clinical & Interventional Radiologist

Dr Chandran Nadarajan is a registered medical doctor specializing in Clinical and Interventional Radiology with a special interest in oncology and vascular intervention. He completed both his medical degree (Year 2007) and his Master of Medicine (Radiology) in 2014 at the Universiti Sains Malaysia ( USM). During the period of 2017 to 2018, he did a year of fellowship training in body intervention at Siriraj Hospital with the prestigious Mahidol University of Thailand.


Since 2019, he is also the specialist coordinator at the Advanced Minimally Invasive Endovascular and Neurointerventional unit of Hospital USM. In addition, he was a Visiting Interventional Radiologist at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II, Kota Bharu in Kelantan and at Advanced Medical and Dental Institute, USM in Kepala Batas, Pulau Pinang.


With his contribution in the Interventional Radiology and his involvement as a chairperson of the East Coast Society of Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology (ECSNIR), he was elected in 2019 as a council member of the authoritative Malaysian Society of Interventional Radiology (MySIR) and held a role as board member of USM's Human Research Ethics Committee from 2019 to 2021 and was invited to be the committee's Independent Consultant in 2021.


A significant career milestone happened in 2019 when 4 of his papers was presented in the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA)2019 conference. RSNA is the world largest and highly reputable professional body of its field. 2019 was one of the most competitive year in the history of the conference where there were more than 13,000 paper submissions worldwide and only 170 papers was accepted (0.01% acceptance rate). 2019 also capped a remarkable year in the milestone of USM where Dr. Chandran, together with his fellow colleagues created history at USM with the first paper from USM to be accepted into RSNA in the past 50 years. Other professional bodies that Dr. Chandran are involved in are the Annual Scientific Meetings of MySIR, Asia Pacific Conference of Interventional Oncology, East Coast Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology (ECSNIR) conferences, Malaysian Stroke Virtual Conference 2021 etc.


Dr Chandran is a staunch believer that the main priority of a doctor should be patient care, and that the well being of the patient is of utmost importance. Regardless of whether he is imparting knowledge to his students or going about his duty as a specialist doctor, he holds firm and true to his integrity and commitment to serve patients.
