The cancer he faced was among the most challenging to treat: tongue cancer, which had invaded more than half of his tongue and, according to medical diagnosis, had reached stage 4. Medically, treatment required surgery followed by radiation and chemotherapy. The surgery alone would likely require removal of most, if not all, of his tongue. Additionally, radiation and chemotherapy posed a high risk of permanently impairing his sense of taste. Such a condition might still be seen as a positive outcome, given that, statistically, nearly 90% of cases at this stage do not survive beyond five years.
The alternative treatment he chose for his tongue cancer, ECCT, was a non-invasive option. ECCT works by breaking down cancer cells through exposure to an electric field, which can lead to significant pain, especially since the tongue is highly sensitive. This method can take longer to yield results compared to surgical removal. Imagine the discomfort caused by an ulcer the size of a pea in daily life—it can be quite painful. His cancerous mass was approximately 30 times the size of a pea-sized ulcer, making the discomfort during treatment unavoidable.
When he first started, he had to endured the worst pain during the first three to four months, but over time and he persist with the treatment, the pain slowly subsided as the cancer mass gradually dissolved into a thick mucus, expelled through his saliva. For years, he persevered through pain and continued expelling the thickened saliva till the cancerous mass diminished.
His patience was remarkable. After five years, he is, thankfully, in good health, active, and in a stable condition, with the cancer mostly eradicated. Remarkably, his tongue remains intact, with only a small amount of scar tissue that causes minor discomfort. He retains his ability to taste food and continue to enjoy good health.
