Mr. Ti is now able to chew and swallow food again, though he is still cautious to avoid chewing on bones. Such precautions are necessary because bone fragments, aside from being unpleasant to chew, can injure the roof of his newly healed mouth, potentially causing unnecessary pain or complications.
Just five months ago, Mr. Ti was diagnosed with a 6x6 cm oral cancer of the palate—a significant size, especially given his relatively small mouth. The cancer had grown to occupy much of the space in his oral cavity, making eating and speaking increasingly difficult. Fortunately, the biopsy results revealed that the cancer type, while malignant, was not among the most aggressive. It was identified as a moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma, a type of cancer with a moderate to high level of malignancy but still responsive to treatment.
Mr. Ti underwent ECCT as his Oral Cancer Treatment, a treatment designed to target and disintegrate malignant cells. For his specific type of cancer, the process was less invasive. The cancer tissue broke down into mucus, which was naturally expelled through his saliva, allowing the tumor to disappear without leaving open wounds or significant scarring.
Now, after five months of dedication and careful management, Mr. Ti’s palate has healed remarkably well. The smooth surface of his oral cavity has been restored, and he is able to enjoy eating again, albeit with certain precautions. His resilience and positive attitude throughout this journey have been truly inspiring.
We are grateful for his progress and hopeful that the cheerful Mr. Ti will continue to thrive in good health for years to come!
